JAKARTA - Three hundred residents in Kampung Ciseke, Padarincang Village, Serang Regency, Banten, now have access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities thanks to a social initiative led by Miss Indonesia 2024 through the Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) program, supported by MNC Peduli.
The project was officially inaugurated by Executive Chairwoman of MNC Group, Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, during a plaque-signing ceremony held at MNC Bank Tower in Jakarta. In her remarks, Liliana emphasized MNC Peduli’s commitment to addressing fundamental community needs, particularly in areas where basic infrastructure remains limited.
“We are grateful to be part of a program that directly touches people’s lives. Clean water and sanitation are basic human rights, and MNC Peduli remains committed to reaching underserved areas across the country,” Liliana said.
The project benefits 150 households and dozens of children, and includes the construction of a 3-kilometer water pipeline, one main reservoir, two water tanks, and three bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK) facilities. The infrastructure was completed on February 16, 2025.
Liliana also highlighted the importance of local involvement in maintaining the facilities over the long term.
“The infrastructure is now in place. The next responsibility lies in maintaining it together, so its benefits can be sustained for years to come,” she added.
This initiative is part of the annual Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) program, which focuses on humanitarian and community development efforts led by Miss Indonesia titleholders. Miss Indonesia 2024, Monica Sembiring, initiated the project after witnessing the pressing needs of the Ciseke community firsthand.
“This project came with many challenges, but I hope it brings real health improvements to the people living there,” Monica said.
She noted that for many residents, access to clean water and safe sanitation had been a distant dream.
“This is a luxury they’ve never experienced in their lifetime,” Monica added. “I hope this will mark the beginning of broader improvements in health, education, and local livelihoods.”
Beyond meeting daily needs, the construction of basic infrastructure provides a foundation for a healthier, safer, and more dignified life. Access to clean water and sanitation directly improves overall well-being by preventing disease, enhancing productivity, supporting education, and upholding dignity especially for women and children.
