Support Bale Baca Matahari Sumbawa to Increase Literacy, MNC Peduli Donates Hundreds of Reading Books

Sumbawa - Bale Baca Matahari is a community reading park located in Lamuntet, Brang Rea, West Sumbawa Regency. This reading park was founded by Lis Utami in 2017 to increase local children's interest in reading.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Lis Utami was forced to temporarily close the reading park because she had to move to another city. When the pandemic subsides in 2021, Lis Utami reopens Bale Baca Matahari to make her dream come true so that people can read again.

Not only is it loved by local children, Bale Baca Matahari is also often visited by adults.

For example, several traveling salesmen often come to borrow books. Meanwhile, local fathers also come to read religious books, and mothers like to read story books, novels or cooking recipes.

Managed by three people, Bale Baca Matahari not only lends books but also teaches local children to read, write, draw and count.

Seeing the consistency of Bale Baca Matahari, MNC Peduli appreciates literacy champions through the #GenerasiCerdasAnak Bangsa program by donating hundreds of reading books on Friday (8/9/23).

MNC Peduli hopes that this assistance can increase the collection of books that can be used and enjoyed by the local community.
