BOGOR – Excitement filled the air at SDN Ciletuh Girang in Desa Wates Jaya, Cigombong, Kabupaten Bogor, as students eagerly participated in a dynamic learning experience hosted by MNC Peduli and MNC Land. Through the Generasi Cerdas Anak Bangsa initiative, the program combined literacy enrichment with hands-on agricultural education, making learning both engaging and immersive.
From the morning, hundreds of students gathered in classrooms and outdoor spaces, diving into activities like reading, coloring, and interactive storytelling with volunteers. The enthusiasm was palpable, with students fully immersed in each session. Aufaa Yumnaa, one of the participants, shared her excitement about the experience.
"I loved reading new books, listening to stories, and playing with my friends. Learning feels so much more fun this way!" she said with a big smile.
SDN Ciletuh Girang Principal, Mimin, praised the initiative, emphasizing its impact on students' enthusiasm for reading.
"This program has truly motivated our students to develop a love for reading and has inspired them to engage more in learning. We’re incredibly grateful for the support given to our school," she said.
Beyond expanding the school’s library collection, the program also introduced students to the fundamentals of grape cultivation.
Under the guidance of Anwar Sanusi, a grower from the Bogor Ciletuh Girang Grape Cultivation Community, students learned firsthand about planting and caring for grapevines. The interactive session sparked curiosity, with students eagerly asking questions about how to successfully grow grapes.
"Can we plant grapes in our home gardens?" one student asked.
"Absolutely! As long as they get enough sunlight and proper care, grapevines can thrive. With the right approach, they can produce fruit year-round and even become a source of income," Anwar explained.
He emphasized the importance of introducing agriculture to children at an early age, helping them recognize the potential of local natural resources. His hope is that Ciletuh Girang will eventually develop into a grape tourism village, similar to successful initiatives in Bantul, Yogyakarta.
The program also received strong support from Wawan, Secretary of Desa Wates Jaya, who highlighted the broader impact of such initiatives beyond just education.
"This program is incredibly valuable—not only for academic learning but also for shaping children’s character and instilling a sense of responsibility toward their environment and community," he said.
