JAKARTA – The Indonesian Navy’s Fleet Command (Koarmada RI), with full support from MNC Peduli, conducted a community health and social assistance program at Muara Angke Port, North Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. This initiative aimed to provide essential services and aid to coastal communities in need.

Residents were given access to free meals from a public kitchen and a mobile library, along with medical check-ups, food package distribution, free eyeglasses, and mass circumcision services.

Koarmada RI Commander Vice Admiral TNI Denih Hendrata stated that the initiative was part of preparations for the holy month of Ramadan and reflected the Navy’s dedication to social responsibility.

"We are working hand in hand to provide healthcare and social services in collaboration with our donors, including MNC Peduli, who have generously contributed to this outreach effort as we welcome Ramadan 1446 Hijri," Denih said.

Muara Angke was chosen as the event’s location because of its high need for social and health assistance. Denih emphasized that the Navy is deeply committed to serving the people, and initiatives like this reinforce their dedication to the communities they protect.

"We selected this area because it hasn’t received much attention before, and it’s a community that truly needs support," he explained.

Denih also expressed his gratitude for the involvement of MNC Peduli and other partners, hoping that similar programs will continue in the future. He revealed plans to expand these efforts to other areas, including the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu).

"There are still many areas in need of assistance. We’re looking into holding a similar event in the Thousand Islands, and insyaallah, we’ll make it happen soon," he added.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Transportation Agency’s Regional Port Administrator, Didi Kurniawan, assured that the event did not interfere with port operations at Muara Angke.

"We were fully prepared to support this initiative, even on short notice, because the schedule was arranged during non-peak hours at the port," he explained.

Didi also noted the overwhelming enthusiasm from local residents, as the port saw a significant increase in visitors.

"Normally, this port is quiet on weekdays, but today, it feels like a long weekend. That alone shows how much the community appreciates and needs an event like this," he remarked.

With full backing from MNC Peduli, the community health and social assistance program successfully provided much-needed support to coastal residents. MNC Peduli and Koarmada RI remain committed to delivering impactful social programs that bring real benefits to those who need them most.
