BOGOR The atmosphere at SDN Pangarakan 02 in Srogol, Cigombong, Bogor, was filled with excitement as students stepped into a world of storytelling, art, and interactive experiments. Instead of their usual lessons, they explored books, unleashed their creativity, and learned through hands-on activities, thanks to an engaging literacy program by MNC Peduli and MNC Land.

Indonesia faces a significant literacy challenge. According to UNESCO, the country ranks among the lowest in global literacy, with only 0.001 percent of the population actively reading. Data from Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics shows that only about 10 percent of Indonesians regularly read books. Limited access to engaging reading materials and uneven education quality remain major obstacles.

MNC Peduli and MNC Land turned literacy into an immersive experience. They provided beautifully illustrated storybooks to spark curiosity and joy while guiding students through creative activities. From coloring batik patterns and building lung models to transforming plastic waste into portraits of national heroes, each activity was designed to make learning fun and interactive.

For Azril, a young student, the event was a perfect blend of fun and discovery. “We got to play and learn at the same time, especially drawing. It was so exciting,” he said.

Najwa Khaira, another student, shared her enthusiasm. “We made batik from paper. Alhamdulillah, I’m so happy MNC Peduli came here. It was such a fun day with my friends. I hope they come back again.”

SDN Pangarakan 02 Principal Ihat Supriyatin expressed gratitude for the initiative. “We are so grateful to MNC Peduli for these books. The kids are excited to read, especially with all the beautiful illustrations,” he said.

By making literacy an engaging and hands-on experience, MNC Peduli and MNC Land are showing that reading is not just a skill but a gateway to discovery, imagination, and lifelong learning.
