Greener Schools, Brighter Future! SDN Babakan Kencana Students Take Action with MNC Peduli
Thursday, 30 January 2025

BOGOR – Excitement filled SDN Babakan Kencana in Desa Benda, Sukabumi Regency, as students actively participated in the Green School program organized by MNC Peduli and MNC Land. With enthusiasm, they worked together to clean up their school, organize gardens, and plant trees, transforming their learning environment into a greener and healthier space.
As part of its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, MNC Peduli and MNC Land launched this initiative to instill environmental awareness from an early age. The program goes beyond tree planting—it encourages students to adopt sustainable habits, maintain cleanliness, and appreciate nature as an integral part of their daily lives.
Since early morning, students eagerly took action, sweeping the school grounds, arranging plants, and planting various trees and ornamental plants provided by MNC Peduli and MNC Land. To ensure lasting impact, MNC Peduli also donated cleaning equipment, including brooms, trash bins, and gardening tools, to help the school maintain a clean and green environment.
SDN Babakan Kencana Principal, Yanti Susanti, expressed her enthusiasm for the program, emphasizing that hands-on participation made the initiative even more impactful.
"I’m thrilled about this program because it reignites the students’ enthusiasm for greening their school. They were excited to take part in cleaning and planting together with their friends," Yanti said on Thursday (January 30, 2025).
Although the school has already implemented a waste separation program, Yanti acknowledged the need for better facilities. She hopes that with the continued support of MNC Peduli and MNC Land, the school can further develop its green initiatives.
"We have started waste separation, but we still lack proper infrastructure. Hopefully, with this program, our school can become even greener and better. We are deeply grateful to MNC Peduli and MNC Land for their support," she added.
Tugiman, Chairperson of the SDN Babakan Kencana School Committee, also praised the program, highlighting its significant impact on students. He noted how the initiative helps instill a sense of responsibility toward the environment.
"The Green School program is incredibly beneficial for our students. They are learning to care for the environment in a fun and engaging way," he said.
He hopes SDN Babakan Kencana can serve as an example for other schools to adopt similar sustainability efforts.
"Even though our school is in a rural area, we aspire to be a model for other schools in implementing this program. If children develop environmental awareness early on, they will carry these good habits into adulthood," he added.
Syaiful Ardiansyah, General Manager of Town Management at MNC Land Lido, reiterated that the Green School initiative aims to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable learning environment for both students and teachers.
"As a developer in KEK MNC Lido City, we deeply care about the schools around our area. This program is not just a one-time event but a long-term commitment to instill environmental consciousness in students from an early age," he stated.
He also mentioned that MNC Peduli and MNC Land plan to expand the initiative to more schools near KEK MNC Lido City to encourage broader community involvement in environmental conservation.
"We hope this program will have a lasting impact on schools. Moving forward, Green School will continue to grow, inspiring more children to take part in preserving their environment," he concluded.
