Go Green Educational Tour in Bodogol: MNC Peduli Inspires Children to Love Nature

Tuesday, 18 February 2025

Sukabumi – Laughter and excitement echoed through the lush greenery of Kampung Eduwisata Bodogol as dozens of students from SDN Babakan Kencana eagerly explored nature, harvested tomatoes, fed goats, and played traditional games. These hands-on experiences were all part of the Go Green Educational Tour in Bodogol, a program initiated by MNC Peduli and MNC Land to cultivate a deep love for nature and environmental awareness from an early age.

Through this program, children were encouraged to interact directly with nature. Rather than just observing, they actively participated in activities designed to introduce them to ecology, farming, and cultural preservation.

Beyond the fun, the experience also instilled valuable lessons in teamwork and independence. Whether they were picking fresh produce, feeding farm animals, or crafting traditional art, they learned to collaborate, take responsibility, and appreciate their environment. This interactive approach not only expanded their knowledge but also nurtured a sense of accountability and environmental consciousness.

As an educational destination close to MNC Lido City’s Special Economic Zone (KEK), Kampung Eduwisata Bodogol offers a holistic learning experience that allows children to explore ecosystems firsthand. They get to understand sustainable agriculture, care for livestock, and engage with local traditions such as traditional games and wayang-making.

One of the participants, Salsa, a student from SDN Babakan Kencana, shared her excitement. “I got to harvest tomatoes and visit the goat farm. The walk was quite far, but it was so much fun! I’m going to make tomato juice with the ones I picked,” she said enthusiastically.

Head of CSR at MNC Group, Tengku Havid, emphasized that this program goes beyond just an enjoyable outing—it is a key step in fostering environmental consciousness. “This initiative offers immense benefits in broadening children's understanding and appreciation of nature. By actively engaging with their surroundings, they learn the importance of conservation and sustainability,” he stated on Tuesday (February 18, 2025).

Echoing this sentiment, Andri, a representative from Kampung Hoya, highlighted how this initiative aligns with the broader vision of Bodogol’s Educational Tourism Program. “We introduce children to various aspects of farming, animal husbandry, and Hoya plant cultivation. Additionally, they get to experience traditional games and craft-making, helping preserve local culture,” he explained.

Eti Setiawati, a supervising teacher from SDN Babakan Kencana, expressed her appreciation for the program’s impact. “I was surprised, happy, and proud all at once. This initiative is truly transformative, especially for schools like ours that have limited access to outdoor education. Thanks to MNC Peduli, our students aren’t just growing academically but also developing practical skills they can use in the future,” she said.

She also emphasized how programs like this can inspire children to see opportunities in their own communities instead of solely seeking opportunities in urban areas. “With training like this, children from rural areas can discover the potential around them. Instead of feeling the need to move to big cities, they can explore careers as modern farmers or creative entrepreneurs right here,” she added.

Through the Go Green Educational Tour in Bodogol, MNC Peduli and MNC Land aim to nurture creativity, innovation, and a stronger connection to nature among children. By promoting hands-on learning, this program plays a vital role in fostering environmental responsibility and aligns with the green school concept for Indonesia’s future generations.
